Maintenance. It sounds like a very heavy word. But not for people truly committed to giving the best of their craft. In the case of ballerinas, sewing clothes and tutus don't quite make it when it comes to maintenance. It means so much more than that especially if you are making a career as a ballerina.
Much Obliged For Life
Ballet may or may not be a hobby. But for those who intend to take it seriously, it involves a lifestyle change. Learn that there are many talented dancers and the intensity of your workout isn't enough to warrant a scholarship in coveted ballet schools. It may take a complete change of lifestyle and utter yielding to the call of the dancing profession. For one thing, you may find yourself always on the move and perpetually busy for rehearsals. You may also find that you need to make some sacrifices to be able to maintain this craft. A romantic relationship may be compromised, time spent for self and family may sometimes go under in favor of a career in ballet.
A Ballerina Diet
Eating is something that must also come in moderation, unless you want to be a super-sized monster in the middle of svelte swans that make it big in the ballet profession. As a professional ballerina, you are expected to maintain good appearance at all times, including stage presence and the ability to mask negative emotions when performing happy pieces. The diet must also be watched, not too many carbohydrates but more than enough to energize you while dancing.
Training!
A ballerina must continue training. There must never be a day where one rests on his or her laurels in dancing. The best ballerinas consider their training room as their home, as if life is never complete in a day without having trained for the sake of improvement. They must continue to seek training from ballerinas who are better than them. Should they reach a plateau, sharing the craft and passing it on to create a legacy is a sure way to keep the dancing spirit alive.
The Ballerina, The Shows And The Wardrobe
The ballerina must not only keep up with the performances and optimum levels, the wardrobe must also be consistently in top condition as the dancing. Dancing is a visual art, and the things that we see on a ballerina, all the sewing and fixing involved in the tutus and the leotards, are part of the exciting, albeit tedious, life of a ballerina.
