The success of any ballet performance depends on many factors, but it is important to look at the shows ambience or the overall look of the whole act.
As part of the production, you must first imagine yourself in the position of the audience so as to deliver the facade that might appeal to the latter. First impressions last and it is much better to take the viewers by storm in their first glimpse of the scenery of the production so that they won't have any negative things to say about it later and they may be encouraged to seek out the groups future performances.
So what does a powerful look consist of in a production? What are the factors to be considered so as to make the first impression last? Here are the most important ones.
Music
This is such an important base in a ballet production. Everything will revolve around this so it is imperative to choose this wisely. This shouldn't only cause the dancers to react in a powerful way but the audience to be affected and for the message of the act to be fully understood by the latter. The spectators may also have their own interpretation to what they have seen.
As long as the dance has an impact of the music, the music may be tagged as the perfect choice for that performance.
Scenery
In the late 1800's up to the early 1900's, extravagant sceneries were painted or had a mock up in the background. Popular choices during that time were castles, forest, lakes, villages and representations of real sceneries.
But at this time, simplicity holds the power because what's more important is that the stage has enough room for the dancers. The latter should only be focused on after their dance and not with the objects around them. That is why today, colorful cloths and modest architectural objects are placed as backdrops.
Costumes
Light and simple are the two words best fitting with what should be used by the performers for them to be able to give their best in whatever they are doing. The dancers costumes follow the theme of the production and should be in resemblance with the stages scenery.
Lighting
This factor helps greatly to convey the productions emotions. This may also alter for extravagant designs because lights can measure up to whatever is lacking in the set design.
In planning for the performance, the safety of those involved in the ballet production should be the first to be considered. Everything else that was mentioned above comes after.
