What is big theme that Christmas celebrates? It is the theme of forgiveness; it is the theme of love. So if you have an unforgiving nature then it can destroy your entire Christmas experience. Now, it can so happen that lots of guests will bring you many different types of gifts, some good and some not-so-good. Instead of fretting over the not-so-good gifts, try to find ways you can improve the quality of the gifts. Learn to forgive everybody no matter what type of present they have gifted you or even if they haven't gifted you anything at all!
Some European countries practice a ritual of forgiveness and it is time you too incorporate this ritual into your daily life. It will set your heavy heart free and enable you to connect with everyone, including your friends and family, at heart level. It will help cleanse your body and heart from any kind of bad feeling. You will start the next day with bright and renewed hopes of even a greater Christmas in the next year. Here is how to go about it:
1. Incorporate a ritual where your family meets once every week before the Sunday meal. Have each of your family members go to the table individually and ask for forgiveness for whatever wrong they have done during the last week. It will help you to connect with each of your family members at heart level. This is the time to build bridges and lighten your heart and free it of any resent, so make sure you don't miss this golden opportunity! Also make sure to incorporate the ritual of forgiveness not only during Christmas but also throughout the whole year.
2. You should also learn to forgive yourself. Then ask for forgiveness from God or the universe, and pledge to do better things from now on. If you want you can follow a cleansing ritual such as washing your hands or body with a soap and repeating at the same time: "Today I cleanse myself of all guilt and pledge to do better things in the future".
There is nothing like learning to forgive yourself and others. IF you learn this one lesson, you will set your heavy heart light. You will bear no grudge towards anybody. Instead of fretting over the 'poor quality' gifts sent to you by some of your guests, learn to appreciate their generous spirit. It will help you celebrate Christmas with a new, jovial spirit!
