One of the most common options available for families with an elderly member is to send them to senior care facilities. And who can blame them? Senior care homes can provide care and comfort for the elderly and a huge convenience for family members especially those who do not have the time to personally watch out for the elderly members of their families.
Senior care homes are institutions or establishments where the elderly can stay. They often have assigned rooms that they can have for themselves. What is so special about these homes is the fact that they are especially established for senior people. This means that all their services are geared towards senior people and all their clients are also senior people. Senior care homes have in house medical professionals that will monitor their health. Examples of medical professionals that can be found inside nursing homes are doctors, physical therapists, psychologists and nutritionists.
Pretty neat, huh? This is perhaps why senior care homes have sprouted all over the country.
Still despite the great convenience that it provides, there are people who are not in favor of senior care homes. A lot of reasons have been put forth and here are some of them.
1. It Leaves The Impression That They Are Not Wanted.
One of the main reasons why most families decide against sending their elderly parents and relatives to a senior care home is the fact that it can make them felt that they are not wanted anymore and are only burdens in the house. This can lead to severe depression and hopelessness, something that is not good to have in their present health condition.
2. They Live Too Far Away From Their Families.
Living inside a senior care facility can be really be lonely especially when they are used to having the rest of the family with them. Although some eventually adjust to their situation because there are also other elderly people in the senior care home, some never adjust and remain antisocial and depressed through out their stay.
3. Family Care As Opposed To Commercial Care.
Some families do not want to entrust their elderly parents and relatives to strangers even if they are medically trained. A lot still want personal care and would rather have nurses come into the house part-time than send them to senior care facilities.
