The Common Injuries Acquired In Ballet Dancing

In ballet, like in any other activities that involves physical effort, injuries are bound to happen. This is the main reason why this type of dance should be learned academically, to prevent the injuries from happening.

Here are some of the most common mishaps that a ballet dancer faces one time or another in the course of his/her being a performer.

Trauma

As a professional, experience is gained through time. But however as good the person is, his/her mastery of the art form can still be tarnished by simple glitches which can cause trauma.

One frequent mishap happens on the floor. The wood being used in ballet performances should suit the needs of the dancers. Because they often do leaps, they need the type of floor that can absorb the shock of their landings. The usual floor being used for this purpose are wooden that are laid flatly on concrete. This type would be able to support the weight of the body that would land on it in a way that it won't hurt the person.

The shoes are also the major cause of injuries that happens on the dance floor. Unlike today's releases of pointe shoes, the older versions or the traditional ones give less shock support, thus the dancers suffer more from harming their feet.

Muscle Problems

There are various techniques, ranging from very easy to too complicated, that a ballet dancer has to undergo in the span of his/her career. The techniques to be taught on a person depends on his/her age, the strength of the muscle and the body's capability.

This is to reiterate the importance of having to go through professional training and earn the ballet lessons academically because this is a step-by-step kind of an art form. The dancers should spend time to strengthen the muscles first, which may take years, before trying even the basic step of dancing using the toes.

Feet Problems

From the most common foot problems of corns and calluses, the ballet dancers are also prone to ankle injuries and stress fractures.

In the course in which a ballet dancer is involved in a performance, one couldn't avoid misfortunes to happen. But the knowledge of how to deal when faced with the situation is sufficient to be able to go on with the dance if an injury strikes in the midst of an act.
