This article will give you the basics of good skin that you can fit into any daily routine. Taking care of your skin is important. However, your busy lifestyle probably does not leave a whole lot time to think about skin care. Skin care should be simple and fast to do each day.

The first step in learning how to take care of your skin is to know what skin type you have. You may have oily skin, which is shiny with enlarged pores. You skin may be a combination, which tends to be oily in the t-zone and have a smooth, even texture everywhere else. Sensitive skin flushes easily and is prone to rashes. Dry skin feels tight and may have fine wrinkles. Aging or sun damaged skin is tight, with some wrinkles and may have a leathery like appearance.

After you have determined what type of skin you have, skin care is easy. Find a good cleanser made specifically for your skin type. Never use bar soap to clean your face because it will dry your skin. Cleanse your face nightly using lukewarm water, after removing all makeup with a good makeup remover. Experts warn against over cleansing the skin because it can strip your skin if natural oils that it needs to stay healthy.

The next step to glowing, healthy, skin is to exfoliate. This should be done once a week using a microdermabrasion kit. Exfoliate scrubs work by scrubbing off the top layer of skin, removing the dead skin cells and exposing the new skin cells underneath. You want to use a scrub with tiny grains. The larger grains found in cheaper scrubs can actually harm your skin, causing small abrasions and opening it up to infection. It you have the money, a chemical peel is a good way to remove dead skin cells.

Moisturizing is an important step in good skin care. A good moisturizer will seal much needed moisture into the skin, making it softer and smoother. Even people with oily skin should use a moisturizer. But be careful, because it is possible to use too much and clog your pores. That is when you will notice acne developing. If you have an under eye problem such as dark circles, you may want to try an under eye cream. The skin underneath your eye is very thin and prone to wrinkles. Some women need to pay extra attention to the areas underneath their eyes.

However, the most important thing that you can do for your skin is to protect it from sun damage. Find a good moisturizer that has UV ray protection and wear it all the time. Use sunscreen faithfully when doing outdoor activities, even on cloudy days. Sun damage can cause wrinkles, dry, leathery skin and skin cancer.

Your skin is your most important beauty accessory. Your skin reflects how well you take care of yourself. Drink plenty of water to keep it nourished and develop a good skin care routine. Take good care of your skin, you don't get anymore.
