Do you need an artificial tree or a real tree for Christmas? This is one question that baffles most people, as they stand to choose between two available options. To make it easier for you to decide on a single option, I will enumerate the pros and cons of each option in this article. I am sure that it would help you reach a decision fast.
Now, there are advantages as well as disadvantages to both artificial and real trees. If you are an environmentalist then you know for sure how harmful it can be for the environment if we cut a large, live tree. Artificial trees don't need any natural resources and as such do not cause any harm to the environment. But then again, the materials needed to make the artificial trees cannot be recycled because they are non-biodegradable; so again, even artificial trees can cause harm to the environment when you dispose them off!
The biggest advantage of real trees over the artificial ones is that real trees do not smell fake; they smell real. They emit a natural pine scent, something which is totally absent in the artificial trees. On the other hand, artificial trees require less maintenance on your part and also last much longer than the real trees. With real trees, you have to buy one every year; with artificial trees, you can reuse the same tree year after year.
As you know quite well, you have to regularly feed real trees to keep them alive throughout the holiday season. Also you need to regularly cleanup the bottom of the tree because some of the leaves of a real tree dry and fall off and along with them the needles attached to them. If you don't clean up this mess there can be a fire hazard. As for artificial trees, while they obviously don't need any food or water. They do require some storage space in your house.
If your rooms are not large enough to accommodate the artificial tree for a year, then perhaps you need a real tree as you can dispose it off right after the Christmas is over. While the 'real-looking' artificial trees are generally more expensive than the real trees, you will see that in the long run, artificial trees are way more economical than the real ones. With real trees, you need to buy one tree every year; with artificial trees, if you know how to maintain them properly, they can last a lifetime. Plus they also require less care and maintenance on your part.
As you can see, at the end of the day, it is you who need to decide on what you want. It is more of a matter of individual choice. You should choose the option that makes you most happy. In this article I have laid bare the pros and cons of both and I believe it will be help you make a solid decision in this regard.
