Sewing doesn't just occur in clothes. It can also mean that you need to sew up, or integrate certain actions that you wouldn't otherwise think to be habits you are capable of doing on a daily basis. In ballet, a checklist is very useful when you are in the middle of a flurry of recitals and many other things that demand a dancer's time. This is really an important thing to think about as you embark on ballet dancing as either a hobby or a profession.
Costume Checklist
Tutus, ballet shoes, leotards and many others... these are just some of the things that must be on top of your costume checklist as a ballerina. There are many accessories, depending on the theme of your performances, among other things. The good thing with ballerinas is that they usually perform by group and all the orders for costumes can be done by bulk and with discounts. Just make sure you fit in all of your items in costume checklist before the curtain lifts!
Goals Checklist
You can't just content yourself with your current status in ballet. You need to have some form of progress report in order to really know where you stand and how much you can further improve in your craft. This way, you are never stuck in a rut and you are able to make the most out of what you have in your ballet arsenal now. The good thing about setting goals is that it gives your activity a direction.
Training Checklist
How much training are you up for? Keeping records of your performances, experience and training are quite useful. Make it multi-sensory, if at all possible. Aside from putting it in writing, you may choose to document your performances via video camera. This is a surefire way for you to check up on your patterns, if you have any, and what aspects you tend to be weak in.
Performance Checklist
Sewing up a performance is no piece of cake. Even when you have other people in your team, you must be conscientious enough to know the things needed for the best performance. This is a good way to reduce stress and keep the focus on the dancing and not on its menial aspects. The performance checklist must contain some semblance of order to provide help and direction should you forget the sequence at one point in the performance.
