Sewing The Perfect Budget-Friendly Gift: A Fleece Blanket

People sometimes have forgetful minds and they tend to forget important occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, dinner invites, and christenings. What happens when people forget occasions? They also forget to get them a present for the occasion. What if on that specific day, you only have a few to spare for the present? What should you do? At these times, it is best to call on to your sewing skills and start gathering all the materials necessary to make a gift that will only take a few hours to make: a fleece blanket.

Fleece is a fabric similar to felt. They both don't fray nor do they ravel when you cut them. They also come in interesting designs and colors such as rainbows. Moreover, they are soft on the skin and are cuddly. Above all, they are inexpensive so they are budget friendly.

Coming in cheap isn't the only good thing about making a fleece blanket. They are also easy to make. If you are interested in making one for your loved one, friend or colleague, here is how to make them.

First, you need to get a hold of fleece pre-printed panel which is usually 1 to 1.5 yards in length. You can also choose to buy fleece of lengths according to how long you would like them to be. Next, you need to take measurements of the fleece. Take the length of the panel and multiply it by two.

Do the same with the width of the panel. Then, add these two to twelve inches and you come up with the amount of binding that you need for making the blanket. After getting the required measurement of the binding, cut and piece the binding. Then, press the binding over.

Machine stitching is the last step in making the fleece blanket. After stitching, the blanket needs to be folded over and pinned to the back. Then, on the front of the blanket, you need to stitch the binding while catching the binding on the back in order to secure it.

If you want to have an even faster finish, use a satin blanket binding instead of the fleece panel. People who tend to forget birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions now need not worry about getting a present for the celebrants. You can simply call on your sewing skills to create an inexpensive and easy-to-make gift - a fleece blanket.
