Replacing The Headlight

A drivers primary responsibility is to look after his car and see to it that everything is working as planned. Now if you miss a particular spot like your light bulb, that would give you a big problem, especially if the lights that are missing are the ones overlooking the drivers view. Yes, the headlights.

There are two types of headlights, the dim ones that are used for closer contacts and the bright ones that are usually used on freeways and super highways especially during the night. If one of these is not working, you might compromise your safety.

Plus, busted headlights can get you into lot of trouble especially with the law. Replacing your ruined headlight can cost you less than receiving a $35 dollar ticket from these hotshots.

You can just go to the car repair shop and have it done there but no, you wouldn't do that because you are too proud and knowledgeable to have someone else repair it for you. Maybe, you could just drop by a car merchandise store and buy yourself a couple of light bulbs. Be sure that your new bulbs will fit the socket or else you have to go back and change it with something that suits it.

Once you have gathered together all your materials (technically, all you need to have are the light bulbs that you just bought), safely prop the hood open and look behind the headlight, locating the socket where you should put the bulb. To give you a better idea of what it looks like, its an indented box with three wires connected to it.

What you do once you spotted the bulb holder is unplug the wirings attached to it. This plug is held by a clip made of metal, cap, or a plastic catch. If you have a metal clip, just pull it away. If you have a cap, use a screw driver to unscrew it. Last, if you have encountered a plastic catch, press the lever.

You can now remove the headlight out from its base by means of pulling it gently or rotating it. If you have greased your hands, clean yourself up first. Then use a piece of cloth to put the new bulb into the holder and tighten it. After making sure that the bulbs in its correct place, test your new lights by starting your car. Voila!
