Having a comic book collection means a big responsibility. Like any collection, you want them to look good and free from any flaws. Comic book collecting may seem very childish, but with the upsurge in the number of collectors and the soaring prices of back issues and collectible editions, comic books have transcended and closed the age and generation gap.
Having an admirable comic book collection means that you have to keep them immaculately clean. They should be very presentable and free from flaws. And this doesn't just cover the actual comic book itself. Your comic book collection should be well protected from damages and the elements which can cause the damage. That's why, usually, comic books come with plastic sleeves or Mylar bags.
Some people don't change the protective sleeve anymore, they just read the comic book, then place them back in it and add them to their collection. Sometimes though, some comic book sellers place the price sticker on the lower corner of the Mylar bag. This can be very annoying as a white square tag sticking on the front or even at the back can spoil the overall appearance of the comic book.
The logical thing would be to peel it off. Doing it the improper way though can cause more damage to the plastic sleeve and god forbid, the comic book itself. See, if you're not gentle, you may apply too much pressure and bend the comic book. Even a slight bend can lower its grading level. This can be very tragic to serious comic book aficionados.
What you need to do is to slowly and gently pull off at the edges of the sticker with your fingernail. Make sure that they are not too cropped so that they still have some edge that can pull off the sticker. Peel slowly.
Make sure that you are getting the entire sticker, and not just the top half of it. If you're lucky, you may be able to get it off without a hitch and without any sticky mess left behind. Most of the time though, some parts are ripped and left on the plastic surface. So what you need to do is to take the peeled off sticker with the larger area and try to stick it again to the left bits of stickers on the plastic bag. Apply gentle pressure to make the remaining bits stick to the larger sticker and peel off. Do so repeatedly until every bit is removed.
Make your comic book collecting more fun. Be proud of your collection and keep it clean.
