How To Organize Your Sewing Materials

Whether you are sewing with a machine or with your hands, it pays to keep your sewing materials organized to keep your job easy and hassle-free. Besides, it will help you avoid accidents in the process. Here are some tips on how to organize your sewing materials:

1. Use A Box And Keep Everything There.

Even if you don't have the makings of a neat freak, having one box where you can keep all your sewing materials will make it easy for you. Never mind if the insides of the box are in complete disarray, at least everything is inside the box should you need them. This is a whole lot better than having the pins on the floor or pinned on the sofa where they could injure someone.

2. Drawer Magic

There are a lot of organizers out there that will help you keep your sewing materials organized. One of the really neat things that will help you is a box filled with small drawers. You can keep all kinds if sewing materials inside. One drawer for all the needles. Another for the push pins. Several for the threads. You can even buy those with larger or longer drawers on top for the scissors and other big sewing essentials.

3. Have A Work Area

Another way to make sure that you organize your sewing materials is to have one work area where you do your sewing. This way, you don't have to worry bringing all the other stuff in other areas of the house and injuring other people. If you have just one work area, it will be easier for you to tidy everything after you work as opposed to going from one room to another looking for sewing things that you might have left there.

4. Keep Them Close

When you sew, you virtually forget your surroundings and sometimes, you also forget that you have left your sewing things on top of things that are near the area where you are working. To avoid this problem, keep your organizer close or better yet, use a tray where you can place all your sewing stuff for the meantime. Afterwards, you can clear them away and keep them inside your sewing box.
