How To Fall Off Of Your Skateboard Safely?

If you are willing to do some serious skateboarding, be prepared to spend some time on the ground. Because whether you like it or not, you will fall and will you hurt yourself in the process. So learn how to fall off of your skateboard safely before you ever use it.

When you fall, you have the natural tendency to use your arms to cushion the fall. This is not okay if you are riding a skateboard. Avoid using your hands to break your fall if you don't want to cut, bruise, or break a bone in your hands. Instead, fall on your side and roll to soften the impact. Avoid stiffening your body and try relax. But, if you know you will fall and you can still bail out from your skateboard, do not hesitate to do so.

How To Reduce The Risk Of Falling Off?

While you cannot totally eliminate the risk of falling when skateboarding aside from not skating at all, you can reduce its risk. First, you have to skate at the right place. Skate parks, empty parking lots, and sidewalks are ideal as long as the ground is smooth and area is clear with pedestrians. Next, practice first your tricks in a controlled environment like grass or carpet before daring to execute it on the pavement. Do not rush to learn new tricks, take it easy. Rushing will only lead to accidents. Master one trick first and proceed to the next when ready.

How To Reduce Injury?

Skateboard-related injuries happen when you do not wear the proper gears and do not follow the safety guidelines in skateboarding. Pad up. Wear a helmet. Sometimes, you feel like an idiot when you ride with teenagers and you are completely covered with these gears. That's okay. I mean the wearing of the gears, not the idiot part. After all, the only person you can blame when you get injured because you did not wear the proper gears is yourself not those people around you.

Also, be safe when riding. Do not skate on the street where motor vehicles and pedestrian traffic are present. Never hitch a ride from trucks, buses, cars, and even bicycles.

Do not go too far outside your comfort zone. Do not show off. Never attempt new tricks if you haven't practiced them yet. The list goes on. The point is to ride safe.
