Safety is the number one priority of everyone. Why in the world would you fix your house or do some plumbing if you don't care about the safety and welfare of you and your family? It's the same principle when it comes to your car. Fixing and reinventing it necessitates that you be responsible with your own safety. Before you pick up anything and start working, make sure that your environment can endure long hours of work.
Safety is the most basic principle you must practice when working with your wrecked car. It has simple rules you have to follow in order to ensure the longevity of your life and not see yourself in the hospital room or worse, 6 feet below the ground. As the saying goes, it's better to be safe than sorry.
Keep It Clean.
If you're working inside your garage, it may be crowded with a lot of things like boxes, tools, instruments, etc. make sure these won't get in the way while you're working. Tidy your place first. A cluttered and messy environment isn't that pleasing to see especially if your car is giving you a hard time.
Be Prepared With A First Aid Kit.
Basically, you don't have to worry about what to put into your kit because the moment you bought it, it came with all the materials to help you with a little burn or a tiny laceration. It would be much better if you put this in one corner where you can easily reach it, probably near your fire extinguisher.
Know The Variety Of Your Tools.
You have to watch out for the composition of your materials. Though some are big enough to hold, others are small enough to roll off your hand and into the car engine. If that happens, instead of just fixing a screw, you have to dig up. And that will take so much of your time, and would be quite frustrating. If you are dealing with bolts and screws put them on a cloth or a small box near you. You could also put them inside your pocket if it's alright with you to get dirty or greasy.
Have Plan B.
In case everything goes wrong, have another plan that would help you escape from that predicament. When everything turns ugly, you have to be prepared to get additional help. You should also be equipped to dial those emergency numbers. This always saves you from further harm and saves whatever is left from your car from further damage.
Know The Do's And Don'ts.
Sometimes being stubborn gets you into trouble. It doesn't do you any good. Knowing the Do's would mean that you should know the Don'ts. It wouldn't hurt if you know both, right? Knowledge can keep you further away from harms way.
