Crossbows, The Modern Ancient Gun

Crossbows were once considered the bane of royalty on the battlefield because it was easy to use even with peasants. Today, it's more of a hunting tool that has gone through several modifications and designs to bring the best hunting weapon to the market.

Crossbow hunting is pretty much a heated debate among several hunters and the state that may or may not allow their usage. It's not that crossbows are unfair in terms of usage, but there are not a lot of people that don't have the physical attributes needed to use a compound or recurve bow. Some States allow crossbow hunting in line with the usual rifle season, while others may not. But as time could tell, a steady increase of crossbow hunters has been clamoring for their rights to hunt with their desired weapon of choice.

For now, a few manufacturers have been producing some of the top-of-the line crossbows for the deer hunters.

PSE Archery is one of the companies that specializes in archery equipment as well as compound bows at a reasonable price. The Rattler is among their models of crossbows with a high velocity and a flatter flight when it comes to the bolts, or the arrows used by crossbows. The package comes with a scope attachment to aid in the aiming process.

Darton also came up with their own line of crossbows and with their reputation when it comes to durability, the Darton brand Impact can shoot 165 pounds of draw weight and can send those bolts flying at 345 fps. A locking mechanism is integrated in the Impact to avoid accidental firing.

Excalibur is also known for its durability and introduced the Equinox. Virtually more powerful and with a draw weight of 225 pounds, any hunter would swear they are holding a rifle, only this time it shoots bolts instead of bullets. The camouflage finished is made by Realtree AP camouflage for better concealment during the hunt.

Before buying a crossbow, a hunter must know which State allows its usage. There are times it can be entered in the rifle category, and some consider it illegal. But this isn't the point of discouragement for those who wish to hunt with crossbows. The hunting laws of varying States have been loosening up a little, eventually allowing the crossbow hunter to freely hunt for that prize buck.
