Comic Book Heroes

Superheroes are fictional characters that have superhuman prowess that they use in order to do acts of derring-do for the publics interest. Superheroes and super heroines alike can sometimes be seen doing crime fighting or saving the lives of the oppressed by themselves or in a group.

They also have a very strong code to themselves where they risk their own lives for the safety of others. Also, each superhero or super heroine has a reason to fight crime and save people. This is because they have back stories wherein it would be known how it is that they acquired their powers or why they started crime fighting in the first place. Some of these heroes are:

1. Superman

Superman is the grand daddy of all superheroes. For without the birth of Superman, superheroes may have never existed. The first ever Superman comic published in 1938 sparked the chain of all superhero comic books. Superman was born in a planet far far away from earth called Krypton.

When Krypton blew up, Kal-el (Superman's Kryptonian name), was the only survivor of Krypton when his escape pod crash landed down to a farm owned by Martha and Jonathan Kent and they named the baby in the escape pod Clark, to which it would be Superman's earth name. While growing up on earth, Clark discovers that he has superhuman powers, like flight, heat vision, super speed, super strength, and near invulnerability. He has one weakness though, and it is the lethal radioactive substance to Kryptons which is Kryptonite.

Superman's success over the years has made him very poplar to almost any age group. With numerous comic book titles, movies, and TV shows, Superman's popularity won't be going away soon.

2. Spider-man

The next on our list is Spider-man. Spider-man's origins lie in the hands of a young Peter Parker, who, on his school field trip to a museum, was accidentally bitten by a radioactive spider which gave him Spider-like powers. Since the incident, Peter Parker can now walk on walls, shoot web from his wrists, has super strength, and amazing reflexes.

With his new powers, Peter Parker joined a one night wrestling match where he won but this also lead to the death of his uncle Ben because he let go of the robber who was robbing the man who paid him so little of his winnings in the wrestling match. The robber then shot his uncle Ben so he could escape with his car. Ever since then, Peter Parker donned the mask of Spider-man, to protect the people of villains so nobody would lose another loved one like he did.

Spider-man, with Marvels success, has made over millions of fans, a lot of comic books, movies, TV shows, and merchandises ranging from Spider-man T-Shirts to coffee mugs, even key chains.

3. Batman

The next to our superhero list is Batman. Batman is different from a lot of superheroes because of his dark and brooding way of fighting crime. Batman has no superpowers, but makes up for it for his alter-ego, Bruce Wayne, and his immense wealth. Bruce Wayne would either buy or make the weapons and gadgets he uses to fight crime. The origins of Batman lie when Bruce Wayne was still a kid. Bruce Wayne's parents were killed by a mugger when they were walking home.

After that incident, all Bruce Wayne had for a companion was Alfred, his butler. When Bruce Wayne found an underground cavern, which would soon be the Bat Cave, lying beneath his mansion, Bats came flurrying out. At first, Bruce was scared of the Bats and so he figured out that if bats strike terror in his heart, he can strike terror in his enemies hearts as well in the form of a bat. Thus the crime fighter now known to be as Batman was born.

The Dark Knight is hugely popular with a lot of audiences, with multiple movies, comic books, TV shows, and merchandise, DC comics has made a very popular icon for a superhero.

There are more superheroes and super heroines and maybe even some who are still yet to be created or discovered. One things for sure, we all just have to wait and see for ourselves.
