While driving your car, you feel a sudden burst of unusual inconvenience. If it's not within any parts of your car, then, your air filter must be the problem. A clogged filter greatly affects the performance of your car in different ways.
An air filter is used, well, basically to filter and take away materials that can harm your engine. Air filters are useful with applications that need a certain amount of air. The air that comes in the filters is used for the better operation of your engine in its combustion process.
When a filter is clogged, it affects the quality of air going through your engine. The energy needed to navigate your car into crisscrosses of the freeway can be compromised. A clogged air filter also affects the mileage of the car. How would you terminate this kind of problem?
First, you should look where the filter is located. Open your hood and prop it. When you spot a black tube, flip the clips facing down. Use a screw driver to pop it open.
Once you have removed the nuts, put them in some place where you can easily find them. Though they are little, these are very much important to lose. How will you put everything back in their place without these little guys?
There are two kinds of filters, the rounded ones and the rectangular ones. Either way, to spot one, you must recognize a thing that is made up of several folded papers and is surrounded by a thick rubber material. Before pulling it out, mentally take note on how it looks when in place so that you would have an idea on how it would look like if you placed it back. As you remove the filter, be extra careful so that none of the pieces attached to it will fall.
If you see some foreign objects like a bug, a twig, a leaf or anything that doesn't belong to the engine, you know you are holding the air filter.
Alright now it is time to put back the new one. You have to remember when you removed your filter. Make sure you don't have the filter placed upside down because the hood wouldn't be able to close. Place the rubber gasket in place by pressing it gently into its groove. Screw the joints back together. Close the top, then you're all set for smooth driving.
